[Still holding both of Rei's hands, he leans forward into Rei's arms and hold them at his side.]

I feel the same. I promise I won't give up on you even if... [He doesn't want to say it, doesn't even want to imagine the way Rei might have looked when Nagisa had 'left' or what Nagisa himself might look like if he suffered that same fate. Akito's fate.]

No matter what.

[Wrapping his arms around him, he holds him close. So often Nagisa is there for him. Now, it's his turn.]

Now matter what. We're together now, Nagisa-kun.

[There it goes, he's blushing and burying his face in Rei's chest.]

I just want us to stay together. That's why I wanted to take weapon lessons, and I don't go out at night, so I won't get attacked like Gou-chan...

There's got to be more though... Something else I - we - can do?

Well, you found a way to get me to join a swim club when I couldn't swim. I think that we'll find a way to make it work together.

[He sounds very confident of that fact.]

[Always good to remind him of his successes.]

Heh... and I had to work really hard for that!

[He's smiling now against Rei's chest before he pulls back with a start]

Oh! The magic lessons! We were gonna try that, weren't we? Together?

Yes. And if we can't find magic lessons we will find something else to do together to get stronger.

[Rei smiles at him and actually kisses his forehead.]

I promise.

[Nagisa didn't think he needed this level of affection today, contenting himself with the knowledge that he's just more candid with his feelings than Rei is, but there's no denying he loves getting treated this way. He just freezes in Rei's arms and blushes at the open display out in the street - not out of embarrassment, but just that glad to be dating this wonderful boy.]

Rei-chan...

[Normally, he would avoid being so open. However, there are times when it really is necessary and he knows that. Sometimes Nagisa just needs him to forget about what holds him back and put him before all of that. Like now.

Nagisa is the powerhouse in their relationship but he's happy to help give his fire fuel when Nagisa can't seem to find it.]

Do you feel better?

Of course I do.

[Nagisa reaches up to cup Rei's cheeks and give him a peck on the lips.]

How could I not with you here?

[And then he leans in for a tight hug around Rei's chest.]

Now I'm actually excited.

[Another hug and then he takes his hand again so they can keep walking.]

Good. Excitement really suits you.

It's easy for me to get excited about things I'm going to do with my friends.

[He squeezes Rei's hand as they keep walking]

And you're my best friend, so of course it's easy to get excited about things we're planning to do together. It makes learning new things ten times easier when you're with me.

[He laughs]

Maybe I just want to impress you.

[That actually surprises him and he blinks at Nagisa.]

You want to impress me? Are you not already an impressive person?

I don't think so?

[Then again, he doesn't sound upset by this either. He likes succeeding at various things like swimming, but it doesn't feel like it's building up to a career for him.]

I'm not good at school things the way you are and swimming won't keep us safe here.

[So nothing about his personality.]

But maybe there's a kind of magic I can learn that's not as hard as math formulas.

[Rei actually lets out a sigh.]

Nagisa-kun. You are the one there to help us smile. You recognize potential in someone like me and you are steadfast in your friendship. You show little fear in the face of adversity and are even willing to stand against it even if you are afraid.

You are one of the most impressive people I know and I think that anyone who gets to be your friend is truly very lucky.

[For someone with a lot of self-confidence, but not much ego to speak of, that was a lot to take in at once from the guy he was dating.]

You don't have to... say things like that, Rei-chan. I love all my friends, I know that, but everyone from Iwatobi is a good friend to me too so that's not... nearly as impressive as getting the kinds of grades you do. You're smart and amazing.

[He bumps his arm against Rei lightly, hoping it'll distract from his blush. What kind of boyfriend had no prospects outside of a few good personality traits? That wouldn't secure him a job or future and he was used to this idea of being a breadwinner, a head of household. All he did right now was sit indoors, even if he's not afraid of what's beyond the walls of their shared bedroom.]

[Rei shakes his head at that, not willing to allow Nagisa to act that way.]

We are only first years, Nagisa-kun. You are not obligated to have your entire life planned out already. You will find something that you are meant to do and that you enjoy.

But I do have one thing planned out already.

[He smiles knowingly]

What do you have planned? May I know about it?

You may.

[He lifts Rei's hand he's holding around his head and rests it on his shoulder, keeping their fingers threaded]

I plan on keeping you in those other plans.

[He blinks then blushes brightly.]

Ah. Yes. Those are in my plans too.

Then everything else is bonus.

[He nuzzles his head against Rei's shoulder even with his arm slung across Nagisa's own shoulders]

If all I do is support you, then that's cool too.

I think you will do more than that. You'll find something amazing to do.

Yeah, just something that doesn't require calculus.

[He gives Rei a light poke in his side]

[He yelps at the poke then rubs his side.]

I think that's more likely to be me.

Silly Rei-chan... That's why I said it!

[He nuzzles up close to make sure he didn't actually hurt Rei tho.]
